Entrepreneurship Training: “What is Entrepreneurship? How to Create a Startup?”
Summary: From product ideation to harvesting wealth, we will cover during this workshop the essence of the entrepreneurial process and highlight the following points:
- Understand what is involved in starting up a high-tech business, the involved risks and the potential rewards;
- Understand the entrepreneurial process i.e. the analysis, control and exploitation of business opportunities and available resources;
- Understand the vital role of IP;
- Understand the various mechanisms available for raising capital;
- Understand alternative career possibilities offered by entrepreneurship.
Presenter: Prof François Ladouceur, B.Ing, MSc, PhD, The University of NSW.
Biography: Prof Ladouceur is an internationally recognised researcher in the area of photonics, more specifically in integrated optics and optical sensing networks. His career straddles both academia and the private sector and thus focuses on applied research complemented with important research translation activities.
Since joining UNSW, he founded three startups (Silanna, Zedelef, Sevren), which since then have become UNSW research partners. Prof Ladouceur holds BEng and MSc degrees from École Polytechnique de Montréal and graduated with a PhD in optical telecommunication from the Australian National University (ANU).
